How does Indistractable work?

Indistractable uses iOS's built-in Screen Time API to block access to distracting apps. You simply select the apps you still want to allow.

Can I customize which apps to block?

Yes! You can create custom lists of apps to block e.g one for work, one for when you're working out etc.

How do I unlock my phone to access my apps again?

There are 3 different ways to enable your apps again.

  1. Scan the QR Code.
  2. Create an accountable person and get them to unlock your phone.
  3. If you're really in a pickle, you get 2 "emergency unlocks" per month.

Is my data private?

Yes, only you can access your data, and the names and data of any other apps on your phone are not revealed to us thanks to Apple's built in privacy settings.

How much does it cost?

Indistractable offers a free trail and is available in either a monthly or annual subscription.

Why aren't some of my apps blocked?

You may have overriden settings to create "always allowed apps". This is accessed via settings-> screen time -> always allowed. It can be useful to leave certain apps such as banking, authenticator or travel apps to be always allowed.

Where should I put the QR code?

We recommend placing the QR code somewhere that you won't be tempted to keep scanning it. For instance you might place it upstairs, away from where you work to prevent you being tempted to keep scanning it.

What is an accountable person?

We understand you might not always have access to scan your QR code, or you might want to remove the temptation to keep scanning it. As such you can setup an "accountable person" such as a spouse or partner. If you enable notifcations on your phone, you can send an email to your accountable person and ask them to approve you unlocking your phone. If they approve your request you will receive a notification which will unlock your phone.

Why does the app selector go blank.

There is a known bug from Apple that causes the app selector to crash when a user has lots of apps on their phone. We recommend only opening one category at a time. We've raised this bug with Apple along with many other developers and are working with them to produce a fix. Unfortunately this is out of control and requires Apple to fix it. It might be a good excuse to clean up any old apps you don't use in the meantime.

How can I delete my account?

We're sorry to see you go! But to delete your account you can select the "delete account" option within the "account" section of the app. We will then delete any information related to your account. Please note there is no way to recover a deleted account.
